Working in my field you sometimes get to play with products ahead of launch. This is one of those times. As you are aware, Samsung has jumped into the wearable tech market with its Galaxy Gear!
I love the fact that the device is sleek and sexy as well as available in a multitude of colors that are sure to suit your style needs.
Galaxy Gear works with the new Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 10.1, and an upcoming software update will add compatibility for the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, and Galaxy Note 2. Althought it will work on it’s own, you will need to have one of these devices to use Galaxy Gear to its full potential.
So let’s take a look at the specs:
- 800MHz Exynos CPU
- 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display at 320×320 resolution
- 1.9MP camera with BSI sensor
- 720p video recording and playback
- Featured apps from Atooma, Banjo, Evernote, Glympse, eBay, Line, MyFitnessPal, Path, Pocket, RunKeeper, TripIt and Vivino
- Samsung Apps and ChatON messaging service
- 2 microphones, 1 speaker
- Bluetooth 4.0 and LE
- Accelerometer, Gyroscope
- 4GB on-board storage
- 512MB RAM
- 315mAh battery
- Additional features – Smart Relay, S Voice, Auto Lock, Find My Device, Media Controller, Pedometer, Stopwatch, Timer
- Safety assistance
Althought I’m not sure if you will look more like 007 or Dick Tracy when using it, Galaxy Gear is able to do a number of things when you pair it. As you would assume, it can give you notifications of incoming calls and have a conversation via the built in speaker/microphone. Because it has S Voice means you can control it by voice commands and it can be used to control the media playback on the paired smartphone. On top of these features it has Auto Lock (Secures the companion device if you go to far) and Find My Device will help you locate each other. There’s fitness apps and that cool built-in camera that takes 1.9 Mp photos and 720p video!
Overall it’s a fun and cool gadget for all you tech lovers out there and a must have for the Samsung enthusiast!
